HeadsUp Presents: Dr. Taylor will discuss assessment and treatment of Early Onset (that is onset before age 18 years old) Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders. He will also discuss age-dependent assessments and phrasing of questions when evaluating younger adolescents with psychosis spectrum symptoms.
Objectives:
Determine how long is an “adequate trial” of an antipsychotic medication before switching based on evidence from the Treatment of Early Onset Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders Study (TEOSS) and other research.
Enumerate the risks and benefits of different antipsychotics in adolescents in terms of metabolic side effects – i.e. antipsychotic-related weight gain Understand different methods of how to assess sleep and circadian rhythm in adolescent and young adults with psychosis
