LGBTQ+ Integrated Care – Part 1 (of 2): Providing Inclusive Integrated Services to LGBTQ+ Individuals

Presented by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, Center of Excellence: Due to historic marginalization and discrimination, LGBTQ+ individuals face health disparities and challenges when it comes to accessing inclusive health care. Individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ are also more likely to report chronic physical health conditions, experience mental health challenges at higher rates and are at greater risk for substance use challenges. LGBTQ+ youth are especially vulnerable to experiencing negative health outcomes, including suicidal ideation and substance use challenges, and unique barriers to inclusive health care. To improve access to care and quality of care for LGBTQ+ individuals over their lifespan, we must consider clinical perspectives and strategies to address the needs of this community.
