The HeadsUp Annual Conference, designed for professionals and practitioners treating early psychosis, offers educational opportunities in early psychosis treatment and services. 2023 Conference Learning Objectives

Through our robust learning program offering varying levels and content tracks, and together with our thought leaders, we seek to:

  • Promote the development of innovative and responsive services in coordinated specialty care (CSC) programs
  • Improve the overall quality of services delivered and increase the competencies of clinicians and CSC team members
  • Assist organizations and practitioners with the vision, knowledge and skills needed to shape new and emerging CSC teams, as well as support our mission
  • Educate and increase the competencies of clinicians on the use of Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R)
  • Enhance understanding and supported use of research obtained from the CSC teams and participants

Conference Logistics

We are excited to return to our pre-COVID-19 in-person learning for a portion of our conference! Monday, November 13, 2023 will be offered in Philadelphia for our PA and MD FEP sites, to accommodate as many people as possible, all in-person offerings will also be available live-stream. The remaining session dates are all virtual.

Cancellation Policy

The Department of Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania, reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any unforeseen circumstances.  In the event of cancellation or postponement, the Department of Psychiatry will refund any registration fee but it is not responsible for any related costs, charges, or any expenses to participants, including cancellation costs incurred by airlines/travel agencies.

In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, written notification of cancellation must be received two weeks prior to the lecture (subject to a service fee).  No refunds will be granted thereafter.

CE & CME Credits

HeadsUp will be offering continuing education (CE) and continuing medical education (CME) credits for approved presentations through multiple professional organizations.

To receive credits for approved educational sessions at the Annual Pennsylvania Early Psychosis Conference, attendees must be present for the full length of any live-streamed presentations. Attendees must also complete an evaluation form for the presentation online within 30 days of the conference’s conclusion. CE and CME credits are awarded on a cumulative attendance basis with full attendance required for each presentation.  CE/CME’s will not be available for recorded viewing.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Information

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by HeadsUp and Penn Medicine. Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team, National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

CMEs are free to the following medical team staff who attend the full duration of chosen sessions:

Continuing Education (CE) information: 

The Department of Psychiatry University of Pennsylvania is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  The Department of Psychiatry University of Pennsylvania maintains responsibility for this program and its content. 40 CE credit(s) will be awarded for this program. CE cost for all non-PA FEP & non-PA VA attendees requesting APA/ SW/ LPC/ LMFT CEs is $25 due 1/31/2023. Required CE payments are one time for up to 40 hours (both weeks) of attended content.

We encourage all non-Pennsylvania licensed professional counselors to review APA approval with their state board.
