HeadsUp Grand Rounds Series: Screening and Differential Diagnosis: Autism and the Psychosis Spectrum

HeadsUp Presents: Autism and psychosis spectrum disorders share common developmental features. Soft psychosis symptoms may be present in people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) as part of the underlying clinical condition and these individuals are at heightened risk to develop Schizophrenia. Part 4 of this 4-part course on Advanced Screening and Differential Diagnosis session will review the clinical features in both disorders, their overlap and differential diagnosis with respect to psychosis.

Objectives:
Understand early developmental atypicality in ASD and children who later develop Schizophrenia.

Distinguish at which point a person with ASD would also be diagnosed with Schizophrenia.

Describe unique and common symptoms of adults with ASD and/or psychosis
